Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen is one of the premier race tracks in the world. The list of legendary drivers that have graced the streets of Watkins Glen and the twists of Watkins Glen International is nearly second to none. The stars of all forms of racing – F1, IRL, sports car, open-wheel, and stock car – have come to The Glen for 60 years and many have left their mark on its history. The track which is about three and a half miles long, with eleven turns and several impressive uphill and downhill sections is known for its challenging elevation changes. The track is situated high on a hillside, with expansive views of Seneca Lake.

The town of Watkins Glen sits at the foot of Seneca Lake, the largest and deepest of New York’s Finger Lakes, in the very middle of Finger Lakes Wine Country. Immediately to the north of the town, on either side of the lake, there are dozens of vineyards each with its own stores with free wine tastings. There are also spas, shopping and museums in the area for spouses who might want to make the trip but not spend a lot of time at the track.

Local lodging and other services are readily available in the town of Watkins Glen.

Watkins Glen Arrival Guidelines

Participants often request to drop off cars, trailers and other equipment the evening prior to Watkins Glen events. In response to these requests, the staff at Watkins Glen has asked us to post the following student/instructor arrival guidelines for your review. Please do not call the Glen about whether or not you can drop your trailer off early. If after reading the guidelines you still have questions please contact NEQ event master.

WATKINS GLEN STUDENT/INSTRUCTOR ARRIVAL POLICIES

We (Watkins Glen International Speedway) will be expecting groups to begin to arrive as early as 6am on the morning of the first day of the rental. However, there are always special circumstances.

DROP OFFS - If a few people need to drop off trailers the evening before your rental day, this can be done between 6pm and 8pm. However, this must be arranged in advance. By a few, we mean less than 10. No work can be done, no cars can be unloaded, this is drop-off only and requires signature on a storage waiver upon arrival. There is no fee for this.

If you wish to drop your trailer off the evening before the event you must contact the Event Master not later than one week prior to the event so that we can make arrangements with the track.

DROP OFF AND SET UP - With prior approval from the track, a few people (again, less than 10 and to include the organizer or representative) can come in, unload, and set-up if our insurance certificate covers the day in question. Again, 6pm & 8pm and there is no fee.
