2025 NEQ Election: Meet Our Candidates

On the nine-seat Board of Directors of the NEQ chapter of ACNA, three seats become available each year. As a member-driven organization, this election will decide who will represent you for your club.

This year the seats will be vacated by Eric Galvin, Ryan Zavras, and Douglas Maule. We would like to thank all three of them for their contributions and commitment to the club.

We are honored to present this year’s slate of candidates. The three candidates for 2025, in alphabetical order, are:

Name: David Allen

How did you discover NEQ, and what was your first event?

I joined NEQ when I relocated from overseas to Connecticut.  I think my first event was at Lime Rock in 2011.  That year I also hosted my father, Bill, for the first time on a trip to Mont Tremblant with the club.

Tell us about the car(s) you like to drive on track:

I drove 2 generations of B8S4 with NEQ – a Sprint Blue one I had briefly before I moved overseas a second time, then a Monsoon Grey MT 2012 S4 for many years.  I miss that car, but not its weight and everything that comes with a big car!  I now drive a 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS on the track and a Nogaro Blue 2023 S3 on the road.

What are the things you value most as an NEQ member?

The people.  I’ve made livelong friends through NEQ and relish the time I get to spend with the club.  I’ve driven with other ANCA chapters and with other clubs and have seen other cultures.  The people who come to events are fun, safe and not fussy.  That combination has brought my father back year after year and why I’ve also been able to get my son and wife to come to events.

As a prospective Board member, where would you like to focus your skills and interests?

I think the best way to help us improve our track day economics is to find and bring in more first-time participants.  I’d like to work on new ways of reaching those potential long-term members and lowering their anxiety before their first event.

How did you discover NEQ, and what was your first event?

I went to my first Annual Meeting in 2019, and my first event was at Lime Rock Park the same year.

 

Tell us about the car(s) you like to drive on track:

My first Audi was a 1987 Model 5000. In my current car stable are a 19’ Jetta R-Line, 12’ S5 V8 6MT, 99 Spec. Boxster Racecar.

 

What are the things you value most as an NEQ member?

I’m a car guy to the core. I grew up watching my dad maintain his own cars and have taken satisfaction in turning a wrench when needed on my own vehicles. I’m a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing School and have a full competition race license. I currently participate in SCCA racing events and participate in HPDE’s held by NEQ. I can’t say enough about the level of professionalism and knowledge from all the instructors I have encountered. Because of this, I was able to complete NEQ’s IC program and become an instructor.

As a prospective Board member, where would you like to focus your skills and interests?

For the last couple years, I have been the Social committee chairman. I also partner with our Marketing and Long-Term Development teams.

Projects I’ve led include the spearheading and successful execution of club events like the Annual NEQ Gathering of the Marques at Lime Rock Park during the Labor Day Historic Festival, IMSA’s Sahlen’s 6 Hours at the Glen, the annual Board of Directors and /Membership meeting and banquet, weekend Cars & Coffee events, social concert events, museum tours.

I have also created photo & video content for our Social Media platforms: YouTube, Facebook, and the NEQ.org website.

My continued focus is to assist the NEQ Club with its evolution and ensure a successful future for the Club and its current and future members.

 How did you discover NEQ, and what was your first event?

I first joined the NEQ in 2005 to attend a Winter Driving School at Team O’Neil in New Hampshire.  At the time I owned a 1995 urS6, a relatively rare Audi with almost unlimited modification opportunities.  The urS community lead me the NEQ for the Winter Driving School, which was followed by my first high speed event at Lime Rock later the same year.

Tell us about the car(s) you like to drive on track:

My track journey began with the urS, but I quickly shifted to a Miata.  Like most people who track consistently, I’ve learned that you can have fun and learn in almost any car that is safe enough to track.

What are the things you value most as an NEQ member?

Most people who have attended more than a handful of events will tell you that the friendships formed are the true value of the Club, and I am no exception.  I also really enjoy instructing and being an event master.  The joy of delivering such a unique experience to other enthusiasts is energizing and addictive.

As a prospective Board member, where would you like to focus your skills and interests?

I’d like to continue to develop the robust driver education that the NEQ has been cultivating for over 30 years.  The program continues to change with the technology and the market, and I enjoy being part of that.

Also, I think we have an opportunity to align more closely with our parent, the Audi Club of North America.  For years we have held them at arms’ length, but now there are massive changes at the national level, and a closer relationship will benefit the Club as a whole.
